A consultation is always required. Requesting a certificate online does not issue one. Your doctor will only provide a certificate where it's clinically appropriate after a real‑time phone or video consult.

Yes. Sick leave is for your own illness or injury. Carer's leave covers time off to care for an unwell member of your immediate family or household.
Will my employer accept a carer's leave certificate?+
A certificate from an AHPRA‑registered doctor after a real consultation is a valid medical document. Employers generally accept them where their policies allow carer's leave.
